Dr. Sima Bina, MD, FACOG, is a Board-Certified Obstetrician & Gynecologist with over 15 years of experience and thousands of minimally invasive gynecologic surgeries performed throughout Northern Virginia. She is MIGS-focused, MSCP certified in menopause care, and Intuitive Robotic Surgery certified. Dr. Bina is recognized for her expertise in preventive gynecology, infertility, fibroids, contraception, endometriosis, PCOS, advanced medical & surgical treatment of abnormal uterine bleeding, peri-menopause & menopause care, hysteroscopy, minimally invasive laparoscopy, and robotic gynecologic surgery.
I was born in Shiraz, Iran — a place where poetry, love, and service were woven into everyday life. Raised by two physician parents and shaped by the values of good thoughts, good words, and good deeds, I learned early that caring for others is both a responsibility and a privilege.
At fifteen, I came to the United States alone, carrying little more than determination and hope. Growing up far from home taught me resilience, empathy, and the strength that women so often must find within themselves. These experiences continue to guide the way I care for my patients.
Over the past decade, I've had the honor of serving women in communities big and small — delivering thousands of babies, supporting women through their most vulnerable moments, and refining my skills as an advanced gynecologic surgeon. Every story I've been part of has deepened my belief in the common thread of womanhood: courage, complexity, and an innate drive to thrive.
In 2025, I chose to step away from large healthcare systems to build something more personal, more compassionate, and more aligned with the heart of why I became a doctor. Aria Gynecology & Surgery is the space where I can offer expert, evidence-based care while honoring the human connection at the center of medicine.
I am committed to providing surgical excellence, clear guidance, and truly individualized care — treating every woman with the dignity, attention, and compassion she deserves.
Outside of medicine, my life is grounded by my loving husband and our three children. Together, we seek out nature, adventure, and the beauty of simple moments — reminders of what matters most.

What our patients are saying
"I am writing to express my deep appreciation for the exceptional care I received from Dr. Sima Bina, who recently performed surgery as part of my treatment plan. From start to finish, the quality of care, communication, and outcomes reflected the highest level of medical professionalism and compassion.
I met Dr. Bina at a time when I was at my most emotionally vulnerable regarding my reproductive and fertility health and future. Given the deeply personal and complex nature of my situation, I approached most physicians with skepticism and actively sought multiple opinions to support my own research while navigating one of the most difficult decisions of my life.
Dr. Bina was effortlessly disarming through her sincere and honest nature. I truly felt she wanted to guide me and provide all the information I needed to make the best decision for my care, without bias. She was the only provider I spoke with during this period whose every interaction left me feeling incredibly informed, supported, and truly heard. I cannot overstate how many questions I had or how much detail I felt I needed—and how patient and caring she remained throughout the entire process.
Following my procedure, Dr. Bina took the time to thoroughly explain how everything went and what the optimistic outcomes meant for my future health. Her clarity, confidence, and genuine concern brought me immense reassurance during a vulnerable time.
I firmly believe Dr. Bina exemplifies the very best of patient-centered care. If a friend or family member ever needed similar treatment, I would recommend her without hesitation.
Dr. Bina is a true credit to the medical profession, and I am sincerely grateful for her role in restoring my health and giving me renewed hope for the future.
With deep gratitude,"
"It is my pleasure to write this letter in support of Dr. Sima Bina. I had the privilege of being under her care before, during, and after my hysterectomy this summer, which was a particularly complicated procedure. Throughout the entire process, Dr. Bina demonstrated exceptional professionalism, compassion, and attentiveness.
From the very beginning, she took the time to thoroughly explain every step of my treatment and address my many questions and concerns with patience and clarity. Following my surgery, she remained highly involved in my recovery, checking in on my progress, ensuring I was healing properly, and promptly completing all necessary documentation and leave forms required for my job.
What stood out most to me was her genuine care and commitment to her patients. She never made me feel rushed, and I always left my appointments feeling heard, informed, and supported. It is rare to encounter a physician who combines such skill with empathy, and I am deeply grateful for the quality of care I received under her guidance.
Any medical practice or institution would be fortunate to have Dr. Bina as part of their team. She is a dedicated and compassionate physician who prioritizes her patients' well-being and goes above and beyond to ensure their needs are met."
"Dr. Bina saved my life. Literally. I came to her needing a pretty extreme surgery and she got me into imaging immediately. She booked my surgery and completed it in excellent time, even working around some of my overriding life issues. My procedure took much longer than usual due to the sizes of the fibroids I had grown. Everything went well and my recovery began smoothly but I was in a near miss accident as a pedestrian on day ten and the scrambling I did to get out of the way caused me to start bleeding.
I saw Dr. Bina in the office once a week for a couple weeks for low level bleeding. She performed a few minor, in-office procedures to stop the bleeding but my body would not turn off the tap. I bled for twenty days before things suddenly got much worse. I sneezed a nuclear level sneeze and something gave way. The bleeding got much heavier and I began to pass clots. Dr. Bina saw me within half an hour of the change and worked on me for three hours at the end of an already long day. At 4:00pm the floodgates opened and she called the hospital, asking for the operating room at 5:30. She stayed with me throughout the entire preop phase and rushed me into the operating room where she stopped the bleeding and saved my life.
Dr. Bina is the very best doctor I have ever had without a doubt. As of today, she has seen me eleven times since February. She is the kindest person. She loves her patients like we were her own children. She takes her time with me at every visit. She calls me herself when she needs to communicate something to me. She got me in on the same day every time I had a complication. I have the distinguished honor of being the only patient she has ever had to have these complications and I know that this is the result of my physiology and not the result of the surgery. The day I was bleeding, she held my hand as her eyes welled up with tears and she comforted me. She checked in with her staff about me more than once while she was on vacation.
I am not a faceless patient to her. I am a human being she cares about and it is evident in every single interaction. There is such a pervasive love of the patients in that office that when I walked in, everyone stopped what they were doing to ask me if I was ok. There was even a nurse on the phone who asked me with silent hand gestures if I was ok. Everyone there is as kind and loving as anyone could possibly be. I leave every visit with a big smile on my face. I feel genuinely loved, cared-for and looked-after when I am there. I will be a patient of Dr. Bina's for as long as they will have me. I have never felt so strongly about a specific medical practice or a medical staff as I do about these good people. You can trust them with your health but you can also trust them with your heart."
"Dr. Bina Sima is truly an amazing and caring doctor. I am very sad that she left the place where she used to work because she has been a blessing in my life. She is the one who finally found the cause of my pain after ten long years, and for that, I will always be grateful. Her kindness, professionalism, and attention to detail made me feel heard and cared for every time I saw her. I truly wish I could continue seeing her and would gladly follow her anywhere she goes. Doctors like her are very rare — she genuinely cares about her patients and makes a real difference in their lives."
"Dr. Bina is the best gyno you will find! I went to her two years ago for big cyst that was causing me great pain and my first visit to her, she scheduled me for a same day ultrasound, bloodwork to rule out cancer, and a follow up. She performed my surgery the following month and did an exceptional job! She is so kind and sweet, listens to everything you say without rushing you, and is very down to earth. She is very reassuring and puts your comfort first. She is also incredibly knowledgeable and passionate to deliver exceptional care. I can honestly say she is the best doctor and I won't be switching to a different one as long as she still is in practice."
"Dr. Bina is such a phenomenal person! She walked me through a major surgery with ease and professionalism. I will continue to recommend her and her amazing team."
"I had surgery back in January 2024 with Doctor Bina, she did a wonderful job. I cant express enough gratitude for the job she did. The issues i was experiencing in the past are gone. When i had post and pre op visits she made me feel very comfortable, even moments before being taken back to the OR , she came and checked on me to make sure i was okay! I recommend this practice to anyone and everyone!"
"Dr. Bina cares about her patients and did my surgery really well. Highly recommended!"
"I can't speak highly enough about Dr. Bina. Not only is she brilliant, but she's prompt and highly attentive and detail oriented. When I think about the delivery of my daughter, I look back with extreme fondness and happiness as it was one of the best experiences of my life-I attribute so much of that to Dr. Binas calm and soothing demeanor. I am grateful to her always and will be her patient for as long as she'll put up with me!"
"Dr Bina is a terrific doctor! She diagnosed my condition and advised on the best options to address them. She takes time to answer all my questions in a clear and direct manner, and made sure I understood all the possible risks beforehand. She genuinely cares about her patients and made sure I was comfortable before and after my procedure. I highly recommend her!"

A recent CDC report showed that, among U.S. women aged 20–24 who were screened between 2008 and 2022, rates of cervical precancer (CIN2+ and CIN3+) dropped by 79–80%.
Why this matters: This dramatic decline underscores how effective the HPV vaccine is in preventing cervical precancer — reinforcing the importance of vaccination and regular screening.

According to the CDC, more than 9 of every 10 cases of cervical cancer in the U.S. are caused by high-risk strains of Human Papillomavirus (HPV).
Why this matters: HPV vaccination remains the cornerstone of cervical-cancer prevention. At Aria Gynecology & Surgery, we strongly recommend vaccination for eligible patients — and continue screening, even in vaccinated individuals.

The CDC recently refreshed its outreach under the Inside Knowledge campaign, highlighting the five main gynecologic cancers — cervical, uterine, ovarian, vaginal, and vulvar — and urging women to recognize warning signs and get timely care.
Why this matters: Many women know about cervical cancer — but less about other gynecologic cancers. Awareness saves lives. We support this campaign and encourage all our patients to learn their bodies, know what's normal, and come in promptly for evaluation if something changes.

New research — including a 2025 Cochrane review — confirms that HPV vaccination remains highly effective in preventing cervical cancer and precancerous changes, especially when administered before exposure to the virus.
Why this matters: At Aria Gynecology & Surgery, we combine evidence-based HPV vaccination with our routine Pap/HPV screening and well-woman care. This dual strategy gives patients the strongest protection possible against cervical cancer.

A 2025 proposal from the U.S. federal government threatens to cut funding for the CDC's Division of Cancer Prevention and Control — potentially eliminating key education and screening programs for gynecologic cancers.
Why this matters: As an independent women's health practice, Aria Gynecology & Surgery reaffirms its commitment to offering comprehensive screening, preventive care, and patient education — regardless of shifting public funding.

Menopause is a biologically complex—and yet inevitable—stage in every woman's life. In many ways, it powerfully shapes womanhood, identity, and long-term health. Yet for far too long, the healthcare needs of women during the perimenopausal and menopausal years have received less attention than they deserve within our medical system.
As a physician, I have always felt a deep passion to better understand this transition and to continually sharpen my skills to more fully serve my patients during the pre-menopause and menopause stages of life. I am proud to share that I have recently strengthened this commitment by becoming a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP) through The Menopause Society.
In alignment with The Menopause Society's mission—to empower healthcare professionals to improve the health of women during the menopause transition and beyond—I look forward to using these advanced resources, renewed focus, and up-to-date medical guidance to better support, educate, and empower you during this important phase of life.
With dedication and care,
Dr. Sima Bina
